The abandon Moors Golf Course & Racquet Club on Avalon Road in Santa Rosa County was recently purchased by developer, Brian DeMaria.
This is welcome news to anyone who has or does travel past it on a daily basis. Finally someone is going to do something with the 200 acres site. The homeowners who have homes on the edge of the course built there specifically to be near the course and have the other amenities it had to offer.
According to local news sources DeMaria owns nearly a dozen residential and commercial properties in Escambia and Santa Rosa County.
Before it closed in 2010, the Moors hosted Senior PGA tournaments and well-known golf professionals like Arnold Palmer.
The golf course is more than 200 acres, and contains three lakes. There are 100 acres of wetlands next to it as well. The buildings on site consist of a club house, restaurant, lodge and training facility.
What the course will look like, have to offer and it’s future are up in the air at the moment. DeMaria will have a better idea of what he’ll do with the land in the Fall and he will keep nearby homeowners in the loop with his decisions.
We will keep you posted as further plans are solidified.
