Shoreline Park, Wayside Park - Parks in Gulf Breeze FL

In Southern Santa Rosa County there are a number of parks where you can take your family, your dogs and even your skateboard.

Gulf Breeze is known as the city of trees, and that makes it a lovely place to enjoy the parks, along the waters edge and inland.

In total, the City of Gulf Breeze has 517 acres devoted to recreation. Shoreline Park is majority stakeholder in that total amount of acreage, it encompasses 155 acres. The north side of Shoreline Drive has the Gulf Breeze Recreation Center, facilities for baseball, football, soccer, outdoor basketball, softball, Sunset Kids Park and 8 lighted tennis courts.

As soon as you cross the Pensacola Bay Three Mile Bridge and enter the City of Gulf Breeze you encounter  Wayside Park. It is an award winning linear park of modern design and has a public boat launch. It is landscaped with native trees and covered picnic areas with a view of Pensacola Bay. In addition to Wayside Park, the City has a unique fishing pier on the property. A sculpture, called Fuego by Kevin Marchetti, is located on the East side of the park and it is lit up at night.

Shoreline Park South has over 105 acres of wooded area which extends to the edge of Santa Rosa Sound. Shoreline Park South is the most popular boat launch in the area, only seven miles from the Pensacola Pass. In the open area near the water, facilities in addition to the boat ramp include picnic tables, fishing pier, swimming area and a large gazebo. A nature trail also winds through Shoreline Park South.

Located in Shoreline Park South is the recently revealed sculpture the Gulf Breeze Arch, by artists Peter King and Xinia Marin.

Williamsburg Park is a large 3 acre open field park with a tot lot and park benches.

Two additional tennis courts can be found at Highpoint Park.

McClure Park is a half acre neighborhood park with a tot lot, park benches and play field.

Two covered shelters with picnic tables, a tot lot, and playground equipment make up the 1.8 acre Woodland Park. The Starlight sculpture, by Lou-Mitchell Courtney, is located in Woodland Park.

Swenson Park is located in the Oriole Beach area at the intersections of Laurel Drive, West Ave, and Circle Drive is Swenson Park. This public park boasts basketball goals, a rock climbing wall, playground equipment including equipment for smaller children, swings, tennis courts and more.

Another fabulous place in Gulf Breeze is Gulf Island National Seashore off Hwy 98.  The Naval Live Oaks Area, located on U. S. 98 east of Gulf Breeze, is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to sunset. The Visitor Center is open from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM features a bookstore, exhibits, and showings of a closed-caption 12-minute orientation film plus nature and history videos.

New exhibits at the Naval Live Oaks Visitor Center in Gulf Is­lands National Seashore provide a wide range of accessibility features, including telephone handsets for au­dio description, a tactile model of an oak tree, a railing system that connects all the exhibits together, and tactile models of natural history objects including acorns, oak leaves, and a large gopher tortoise.

There are over 7.5 miles of trails including the .8 mile Breckenridge Nature Trail behind the Visitor Center. A covered picnic pavilion is available on a first come, first served basis and additional picnic tables are located nearby. Enjoy your lunch while enjoying the sparkling waters of Santa Rosa Sound! The Santa Rosa Sound shoreline is a wonderful option for people with small children who want to avoid the rough surf at the beach. The shallow, protected waters provide hours of swimming fun. Restrooms and outdoor showers are available. Try your luck at fishing.
